Why we teamed up with U:ME in 2020… to help YOU build YOUR confidence in the kitchen, through showing how the right choice of oil can make all the difference to your dishes.

Why U:ME?

Like the majority of cooks, we are untrained! But with a hunger to improve and a thirst for knowledge, we absorbed everything food and drink related and still continue to do so. As Jack is the junior one of our duo, he likes using YouTube and Billy much prefers the “old school” medium of books – and we both practice continually. Trial and error, learning from our mistakes. We now love nothing more than to stand up in front of a crowd doing food demos across the country sharing the wisdom we have amassed and helping others to build their own confidence with our hints and tips. So, when we got the opportunity to become brand ambassadors for U:ME we jumped at it. Demystifying the use of oils in cooking - how, when and why to use them - is one of the foundations of any cook’s repertoire and it’s something we’ve been saying both on and off stage for a while now.

About U:ME

An oil company with a simple agenda, U:ME was designed to answer the question of ‘what oil should I use to really make that dish sing’. They offer a broad range of high quality specialty oils, with each pack showing exactly which oil to use and, more importantly, for which type of cooking. Our recipes with U:ME

We’ve had a lot of fun creating these recipes, taking us back to our brief-driven Masterchef days, but with a lot less stress involved! They are, in the main, simple whilst being interesting, with our usual point of difference, but ultimately delicious (well, we think so). And, of course, utilising the correct oil for the job in hand.

From chicken tray bakes with the world's best croutons to crispy sweet potato katsu, via lemongrass cakes to festive baked doughnuts, all the way back to breakfast and a plant-based chia seed French toast. There is definitely something for everyone, so give them a go and build your confidence in the right oil with us and U:ME.
